Autumn Term 2002: A Summary of Events.

12th Dec: Thanks to Mr Biggs and the boys for a superb Carol Service enjoyed by a congregation of over 400.
Parents and visitors enjoyed the KG and PP Nativity plays this week - thanks to all the children and staff involved.
20th Nov: Our Swimming Teams were beaten by Aldwickbury today, 192 points to 140.
16th Nov: Very close matches today but both 1sts and 2nds lost against Haileybury, 1-0 and 2-1 resp.
13th Nov: U10 team drew 3-3 at Berkhamsted school today.
11th Nov: The Colts XI beat St George's 0-10 - well done boys!
9th Nov: Thank you to all those on the PA who helped to give us an entertaining Fireworks Party this evening.
8th Nov: Today the Form VIII boys presented a moving Remembrance Service produced by Mrs Turnbull - we thank all involved for reminding us of the good reasons for wearing our poppies.
7th Nov: Junior House soccer results - Drake beat Nelson 2-1 and Marlborough beat Wellington 3-1
6th Nov: More good soccer results today against Lockers Park - 1sts won 3-2 and Colts A won 5-0, all five by Josh - well done!
4th Nov: Senior House match soccer results of two thrilling games - Drake beat Nelson, 2-1; Marlborough drew with Wellington, 5-5.
30th Oct: Very good soccer results against Lochinver today - 1sts drew 3-3; 2nds won 3-1; Colts A won 1-4; Colts B won 0-4.
10th Oct: Junior House soccer results - Drake beat Wellington 1-0 and Marlborough beat Nelson 2-1.
9th Oct: All YHS teams successful against St Martin's today - 1st XI 0-3, 2nd XI 3-0, Colts A 3-1 and Colts B 0-4. Well done!
7th Oct: Senior House Match Results - Marlborough beat Nelson, 7-1, and Wellington beat Drake, 3-2.
5th Oct: Today the York House team gave a superb display of both individual skills and good team work to beat all opponents and then to win the Final against Bedford Prep by 4-0, to gain the Under 10 Berkhamsted Tournament Shield. Well Done!
4th Oct: Today's Mufti Day raised £1400 for charity - thanks to you all for your generosity.
3rd Oct: In the Junior House Matches, Marlborough beat Drake and Wellington beat Nelson.
2nd Oct: The Colts XI beat the Berkhamsted School U11 soccer team by 1-7 today - Well done!
26th Sept: The forms 5 to 8 boys enjoyed their Macbeth workshop with the Young Shakespeare Company this afternoon.
25th Sept: Our soccer teams did well today - the 2nd XI drew, 3-3; the 1st XI won 4-3, and the U10s won 6-1.
23rd Sept: Senior House Match Results - Marlborough beat Drake, 5-2, and Wellington beat Nelson, 3-2.
21st Sept: At home against Aldwickbury the matches were very close, but our 1st XI lost 2-4 and Colts A lost 2-3. Away at Aldwickbury the 2nd XI and Colts B both lost 3-1.
18th Sept: The Colts game was postponed but the 1st XI beat St George's School, 6-3, with a hat-trick from Harry.
August: Much work has been completed during the summer holidays - e.g. The relocation of the School Offices, improvements to the catering facilities, and redecoration of many parts of the buildings.

Summer Term 2002: A Summary of Events.

6th July: Nigel Wray, owner of Saracens, gave an interesting talk and then presented the prizes on Speech Day.
5th July: Nelson House won the Inter-House Swimming Sports today.
4th July: Super accurate bowling by Harry (6 for 2) demolished the Old Yorkists' wickets, leading to an easy win for the 1st XI. Many thanks to the Parents for a splendid supper.
4th July: In the Tennis Tournament, Sam won the Singles Final, and Sam & Ross won the Doubles Final.
29th June: Fine peformances by many boys in all the Houses, and Marlborough House was the overall winner of the Athletics Sports.
26th June: Matches v. Davenies - Colts XI drew and 1st XI won; Ross achieved another century - Well Done!
24th June: Both 1st and 2nd XIs drew their matches against Northwood Prep - Highlight: a century by Ross!
19th June: Senior House Matches - Drake beat Nelson and Marlborough beat Wellington, so Drake House wins the cricket trophy.
17th June: Senior House Matches - Drake beat Marlborough and Nelson beat Wellington.
10th June: Last Friday's Mufti Day raised over £1000 for the Sparks childrens charity - a splendid achievement!
7th June: Senior House Matches rained off; Junior House Matches won by Wellington.
30th May: Athletics results at St Martins today - YHS Under 11 Team 1st, U12 4th, U13 1st. Well done boys!
29th May: Colts A & B Teams won their cricket matches against Northwood Prep today.
17th May: Our swimmers were beaten by the Aldwickbury boys today by 190-146.
15th May: Very close cricket matches today against St Martins - Colts drew, 2nds won by 7 runs and the 1sts tied their game!
8th May: In their cricket matches against St Georges School, our 1st XI won convincingly by 10 wickets, and our Colts drew in a very close match.
1st May: Both the Colts and the 1st XI beat the Lockers Park teams in their cricket matches today.
25th April: The boys enjoyed a surprise visit by David Seaman of Arsenal and England today.

Spring Term 2002: A Summary of Events.

21st March: In the Final of the Inter-House Debate, Nelson beat Wellington to take the Cup.
19th & 20th March: Over 350 Parents, Boys, Old-Boys, Governors and visitors enjoyed a splendid production of "Beowulf" - Well Done Everyone!
14th March: U11 X-Country - "A" Team 3rd, "B" Team 6th, out of 8 schools. An excellent performance by Matthew - 4th out of 48 runners.
13th March: The Colts XII lost their final game of the rugby season to a strong Lockers Park team.
10th March: Kingshott Cross Country Senior Race - Aaron 1st, Ross 2nd, Team 2nd out of 8 schools; Junior Race - Jack 4th. Well Done!
8th March: In the 1st Round of the Debate, Nelson beat Marlborough and Wellington beat Drake.
6th March: Marlborough House won the School Sevens Rugby Tournament.
4th March: York House Sevens Team won the St Martins Seven-a-Side Tournament. Well done boys!
1st March: St Martins Road Relay - Juniors third (Jack 2nd fastest of 42), Seniors 1st (Aaron 1st and Thomas 2nd fastest of 42). Well Done!
27th Feb: Rugby - 1st XV won 44-19; 2nd XV lost 15-0; Colts XII lost 0-38. The Form VIIIB Boys have achieved splendid results in the Aldenham Entrance Exams. Well Done!
26th Feb: The Form VIIIA Boys have achieved splendid results in the Merchant Taylors Entrance and Scholarship Exams. Well Done!
15th Feb: The boys have collected over £1300 from their sponsors for the Readathon charities - a splendid effort!
13th Feb: In the matches against St.Martins the Colts lost 14-31 and the 1st XV won 0-29, remaining undefeated so far - well done!
11th Feb: Our 1st XV beat Lockers Park 1st XV by 33-0 - well done!
9th Feb: The Parents' Association Quiz Night was a great success - thank you to all involved in its organisation.
8th Feb: Congratulations to all the boys who took the Berkhamsted Preliminary Entrance Tests - all succeeded!
6th Feb: Against St George's School the Colts XII lost 15-24 in a close match, but the 1st XV achieved a good win 10-34 - well done boys!
5th Feb: This afternoon the boys of Forms V to VIII enjoyed participating in an entertaining Shakespeare workshop on Midsummer Night's Dream.
1st Feb: The school was closed in respect for the funeral of Mrs Mumford.
30th Jan: The YHS boys played with determination but both Colts and 2nds lost their matches against strong St Johns teams, 29-10 and 7-21.
28th Jan: York House Senior Team 1st in the Inter-chool Cross Country - Aaron Dombey 1st and Thomas Kavanagh 2nd. Jack Lupton 1st in the Junior race. Well done all the YHS runners!
25th Jan: The school has been informed that Mrs Mumford passed away following a long illness - our sympathy goes to her family and friends at this time of their deep sadness.
23rd Jan: Inter-House Rugby postponed by illness and bad weather - rescheduled for 6th March.
18th Jan: Congratulations to the boys of Nelson House on winning the Inter-House Cross Country, and Well Done to ALL the runners!
8th Jan: Last term we collected over £1500 for charities - thanks to the generosity of parents, boys and visitors.
