Autumn Term 2004: A Summary of Events.
16th Dec: The collections at the Christmas Plays and the Carol Service have
raised over £930 for the Watford Peace Hospice - many thanks to you all.
14th Dec: The Carol Service gave pleasure to hundreds of parents and
other visitors at All Saints Church, thanks to the splendid choirs and
readers.
8th Dec: Today it was the turn of the Kindergarten children to entertain
the parents and other visitors with their wonderful Nativity.
3rd Dec: Many parents and other visitors enjoyed
the Christmas plays performed by the Pre-Prep children today.
22nd Nov: Despite many excellent individual and relay performances,
particularly by James P, the YHS Swimming Team was beaten by a very narrow
points margin by Aldwickbury today.
17th Nov: In the soccer matches v. Beechwood, the Colts A and B teams
lost 0-5 and 3-2, but the 1st and 2nd XIs won 5-0 and 0-4.
13th Nov: Many thanks to the Parents' Association for a spectacular and
enjoyable Fireworks Night.
13th Nov: Good results for the YHS Senior Soccer Teams v. Haileybury -
the 1st XI won 1-5 and the 2nd XI won 0-3, both away matches - Well Done!
11th Nov: Junior Inter-House Soccer - Nelson beat Drake and Marlborough
beat Wellington; so Marlborough House win the Junior Trophy: Well Done!
10th Nov: Soccer v. Lochinver - YHS 2nd XI and Colts B both lost, 1-4 and
3-2, but the 1st XI won 3-2 and the Colts A won 1-3.
8th Nov: Senior Inter-House Soccer - Nelson beat Drake 3-0, and Marlborough
beat Wellington 3-1 to win the Senior Trophy: Well Done!
3rd Nov: A day of mixed fortunes for the YHS soccer teams v. Lockers Park:
2nd XI lost 1-0; Colts A lost 0-4; 1st XI drew 2-2; Colts B won 1-2.
11th Oct: A good day for the YHS Colts against St Anthony's - the A Team
won 5-1 and the B Team won 3-2.
9th Oct: The YHS U10s reached the Runners-Up Final in the
Berkhamsted Soccer Tournament but were beaten into 4th place.
7th Oct: In the Junior House Soccer Matches, Marlborough beat Nelson
and Wellington beat Drake.
6th Oct: The YHS teams did well in the football against St Martin's today
- the 1st XI won 1-0, the 2nd XI won 4-0, the Colts A drew 2-2, and the
Colts B won 3-2 Well Done Boys!
4th Oct: In the Senior House Soccer Matches, Marlborough beat Nelson 8-0
and Wellington beat Drake 4-2.
1st Oct: The Mufti Day raised a record £643.52 for the Jeans for Genes
Charity - thanks to all for their generosity to this good cause.
29th Sept: The Colts A Team lost to Berkhamsted school 2-1 today.
23rd Sept: In the Junior House Soccer Matches, Marlborough beat Drake 7-0
and Wellington beat Nelson 1-0.
22nd Sept: At home against St Anthony's the 1st XI drew 2-2 and the
2nd XI won 4-3; away at St George's the U10s lost 5-0.
20th Sept: In the Senior House Soccer Matches, Marlborough beat Drake 6-3
and Wellington beat Nelson 6-1 .
18th Sept: At home, the 1st XI beat Aldwickbury 2-1 but our Colts A
lost 1-4. At Aldwickbury, the 2nd XI won 1-6 and the Colts B lost 3-0.
15th Sept: A great start to the soccer season - 1sts, 2nds, Colts As and
Colts Bs all beat the St George's teams today. Well done boys!
As time marches on inevitably a number of boys and a few members of
staff left York House at the end of the summer term, to be replaced by
new boys and staff in the autumn term. We wish them all the best for
the future.

Summer
Term 2004: A Summary of Events.
10th July: We thank Mr A Grant, the Headmaster of St Albans School, for
speaking and presenting the prizes at our Speech Day.
9th July: Following the victory in athletics a few days ago, Wellington
House completed the double today by also winning the Inter-House Swimming
Sports.
7th July: Cricket matches v. Lochinver interrupted by rain; however,
Matthew (Colts A) still managed to score 107 not out - well done!
6th July: In near perfect conditions today, Wellington House was the clear
winner of the Inter-House Athletics Trophy. Well done, boys!
30th June: Cricket v. Lockers Park - 1st and 2nd XI both lost their
matches but the Colts A and B Teams both won.
24th June: Junior House Cricket - this cricket tournament was won by
Drake House: Well Done!
21st June: Senior House Cricket - Marlborough beat Wellington to win the
trophy. Drake beat Nelson to take 3rd place.
11th June: London Area Athletics Championships - Henry 1st in U12 Javelin;
Tom S 2nd in U13 200m & 3rd in U12 Triple Jump; Billy 3rd in U12 70m Hurdles;
Matthew 3rd in U12 800m; Charlie 2nd in U12 Triple Jump & 3rd in U12 High Jump;
U12 Relay Squad 2nd; and lots of other good performances - Well Done!
27th May: Athletics v. St Martin's and St John's - Under 11: 1st YHS; Under 12:
1st YHS; Under 13: 3rd YHS; Under 14: 3rd YHS; Overall: 3rd St John's 117;
2nd St Martin's 121; 1st YHS 122!! Well Done Boys.
19th May: Cricket v. St John's - 1st, 2nd and Colts A Teams were all
defeated, but the Colts B Team won their match convincingly.
17th May: Inter-House Cricket Round 1 - Marlborough beat Drake and
Wellington beat Nelson.
13th May: Lots of the boys gained prizes and certificates today in
recognition of their efforts in raising over £1600 for Readathon
Charities - Well Done to everyone involved.
12th May: Cricket against St Martin's - 2nds and Colts A both won (Matthew
55 runs); 1sts and Colts B both lost.
23rd April: YHS swimmers won several events against Aldwickbury School
today but lost the match.
14th April: The Peter Pan collections totalled over £600 for the Great
Ormond Street Children's Hospital - Thank You to all who gave so generously.
22&23 March: Audiences totalling about 400 enjoyed the musical production
of Peter Pan - Well done all those who took part, and to the producers:
Mrs Leacock and Mr Biggs.

18th March: The YHS Cross Country A and B Teams both came 1st in their
races at St John's today and Matthew won the Gold Medal - Well Done Boys!
18th March: Nelson House won the Inter-House Debating Competition
today - Well Done! - 2nd Marlborough, 3rd Drake and 4th Wellington.
17th March: In a magnificent display of courage and determination, the
YHS 1st XV beat a huge Merchant Taylors' XV by 7-5: Well Done Boys!
10th March: Inter-House Rugby - Congratulations to Wellington on
achieving the Double today: beating every other House at both Senior
and Colts level. Well Done!
8th March: Against St Anthony’s today the YHS 1sts played very good
rugby but conceded just one try so lost 0-5.
6th March: Aldwickbury proved too strong for the YHS Colts Teams today,
beating the As by 17-0 and the Bs by 33-0.
5th March: Nelson and Marlborough Houses were the winners of the first
round of the Debating Competition today.
3rd March: The 1st XV were beaten by St John's 0-10, but the Colts XII
beat St Anthony's today by 15-12.
28th Feb: Keble Cross Country - YHS Senior Team 9th of 14 teams; YHS
Intermediate Team 2nd of 22 teams and Matthew won the Silver Medal; YHS
Junior Team 3rd of 18 teams and Alexander won the Bronze Medal - Well
Done Boys!
27th Feb: St Martin's Road Relay - YHS Over 11s came 6th out of 8
schools; Under 11s were 2nd out of 5 and Matthew won the shield for the
fastest time - Well done!
25th Feb: Well done to the boys entered for Aldenham School, who
all passed their exams; also to Arvind who passed to Haberdashers'
School. Rugby v Lochinver - 1st XV lost their match 38-10, but the Colts A
and B won, 12-0 and 38-0 resp.
24th Feb: All YHS boys who sat Merchant Taylors School Examinations
have achieved good grades and have gained places at the school; special
congratulations to Philippe on his achievement of a Major Scholarship!
11th Feb: The 1st XV lost 35-5 but the Colts A & B Teams beat St Martin's
today, 19-7 and 20-0.
9th Feb: All the YHS Boys who entered for the Berkhamsted School Entrance
Tests have passed - Well Done Boys!
4th Feb: Rugby v. St.George's - 1st XV lost 3-7; Colts A lost 63-7;
Colts B won 26-0.
29th Jan: Like many other schools, YHS was closed today because of the
effects of the bad weather conditions.
28th Jan: Colts rugby matches against St John's were cancelled today
because of the snow.
26th Jan: In today's York House Inter-School Cross Country, our Under 11s
were 5th out of 10 schools, and our Over 11s were 8th out of 9 schools.
19 & 21 Jan: The rugby squads enjoyed their visits to Harrow School
including coaching sessions with Roger Uttley.
16th Jan: Marlborough was the overall winner of the Inter-House
Cross Country today.
14th Jan: The William Web Ellis Trophy, England's Rugby World Cup, came to
York House School !! - click on the photos.
